Help needed with Colchester Success 7 1/2
I set-up to cut 6tpi threads and it had been cutting close up to 12tpi. Everything has been set properly including modifying the equipment to 36T as it says on the plate. when I bought the lathe, I was informed that the large equipment was changed. Does anyone possess a schematic showing all of the gearing with tooth figures?

I believe the little idlers are one huge equipment and one little gear made into one. Trade the two commute and leads screw gears and jump the small idler over to mate.

Thanks for all the info. It appears the best advice had been to drill down up the older manual and re-read it. I have got been cutting threads fine on this lathe until I needed the 6TPI which telephone calls for a 32T 'drive' gear. The Colchester s drive train is definitely fairly easy. 18T equipment forces the 120T idler or swing gear. This drives the quick switch gearbox which provides a 42T gear and a 36T equipment piled. When the instructions says to alter to the 36T jump gear for particular strings, you would believe to change the 42T and the 36T gear. Not so! You switch the 18T 'drive' gear with the 36T equipment. I suppose the quick change gearbox shaft is just a easy location to shop the extra armor and weapon upgrades. I have always been so pleased that I had the manual.

Colchester Success 7.5' (Round Head) Lathe
Hello there,
I have a Colchester Success 7.5' Mk1 (Circular Mind) which is definitely utilized every day in our device store. It't an aged gal, but it is usually invaluable to our business and is still utilized just simply because very much as the some other lathes.
Nowadays nevertheless it's given up. We can still select all things on best (two levers) but the major higher / low gear lever on the front side is definitely the concern. I can't find any technology drawings for this lathe. There will be no grub mess, roll pin number or bolt to keep the gear onto the shaft so I can only believe its set to the shaft through splines. And consequently the splines have got worn off? However, it went from functioning great to not really in the space of 5 moments with no grinding or regular gearbox failure seems.
Does anyone possess any knowledge with these lathes, and would end up being kind plenty of to advise?

I believe its heading to become a major,woodruff,p/n 005.incidentally,different from a Student.in any case you possess to remove the base ,so any restoration will become apparent.The gears are not really very hard ,and adjustment would end up being easy ,if needed.

OK,discovered a manual in less than 5 minutes,there is definitely a little woodruff essential in the base/gear,which offers apparently failed.
